1. HUNT

   Target the exact issue

   • • Specify title, series or volume, publisher, issue number, publication date, printing, original, facsimile, reprint, or custom status, cover variant, cover artist attribution, newsstand or direct edition, and physical format.
   • • Keep raw or slabbed state, CGC or CBCS certifier, grade, page quality, restoration, signature, and completeness requirements explicit in the Wishlist target.
   • • Unusual wording, scarce-looking covers, weak photos, or omitted printing details are Hidden Gem candidate signals only; they do not establish identity, value, or BUY evidence.
   • • The Comics category Deal Finder and marketplace provider remain in development; asking prices may guide discovery but never create BUY evidence.

2. INSPECT

   Read the book and its evidence

   Use Field Scan intake to document publication clues, structure, completeness, condition, restoration risk, and certification claims.

   • • Capture the full front and back covers, spine, staples, corners, edges, indicia or copyright page, representative interior pages, and every disclosed defect.
   • • For a slabbed comic, capture the holder and full label; record CGC or CBCS company, certification number, grade, page quality, restoration notation, and signature label or authentication context for later verification.
   • • Record spine ticks, creases, tears, stains, fading, foxing, writing, missing pages, clipped coupons, missing inserts, detached or reattached cover and centerfold, trimming, color touch, cleaning, reinforcement, and separate restoration or conservation evidence without inferring a grade from photos.
   • • Unknown, missing, seller-only, or contradictory issue, volume, printing, edition, original/facsimile/reprint/custom, format, cover, certification, signature, completeness, restoration, or conservation evidence fails closed and requires further inspection.

3. DECIDE

   Qualify exact-edition evidence

   Separate catalog and seller claims from verified identity, certification, condition, and comparable completed transactions.

   • • Passport identity must agree on series and volume, publisher, issue, publication date, printing, original/facsimile/reprint/custom state, variant cover and supported cover-artist attribution, distribution edition, physical format, raw or slabbed state, grade, page quality, signature, restoration, conservation, and completeness.
   • • Only exact sold evidence matching those material dimensions may support a future direct market view; adjacent printings, covers, formats, grades, restoration states, and asking prices cannot create BUY evidence.
   • • CGC or CBCS label and registry evidence can corroborate certification claims where available, but a certification number, imagery, variant wording, signature claim, or seller statement alone never authenticates, grades, certifies, or resolves a comic's identity.
   • • A Hidden Gem remains a candidate for Inspect, never an automatic BUY; unresolved identity, conflicts, weak evidence, or failed verification keeps the decision insufficient.

4. OWN

   Preserve the issue record

   Use Inventory Locker and the Hobbytic Passport to retain custody, identity, condition, certification, and care history for the exact comic.

   • • Passport fields retain publication identity, distribution and format, creators and attributed significance, certification, grade, page quality, restoration, signatures, images, provenance, and unresolved conflicts.

   • • Key issues, scarce variants, common books, raw copies, high-grade slabs, restored books, and signed comics may have materially different liquidity and venue fit.
   • • Present issue, printing, cover, format, certification checks, grade, page quality, restoration, signatures, completeness, provenance, and defects without overstating authenticity or condition.
